Make sure it's pointing to com1 in your settings.

You also need a null modem cable to connect onto the end of the adapter and then to your receiver.

That depends on what you're doing?

The loader software might always be looking at com1 so in that case, no it won't be ok.

I'm sure you can disconnect whatever it is you have on com1 temporarily so that you can flash your box.

Do you have a com port at the back of your PC? Do you use it?

Do you have a null modem cable?

            What receiver do you have?

I thought the end of the adapter was a 9-pin male connector - and the receivers also have a 9-pin male connector. So no it wouldn't fit, you'd need a 9-pin female to 9-pin female null modem cable to go inbetween the adapter and the receiver.

DB9 9 pin RS232 Serial Null Modem Eurovox Dbox Cable on eBay, also, Modem Cables, Cables Connectors, Computing (end time 13-Dec-08 17:17:52 GMT)

But it all depends on what usb - serial adapter you have. If it fits, give it a try. But as we can't see it or have a play with it, it's kinda hard to offer help.
