ive notice if you record on hd , a 2 hour film takes up 10 hours recording time. so much for the 80hours of recording , only get 80 hours on normal tv recording ...

The quoted 80 hours is indeed for SD programs.
HD, of course, takes up more of the space, around 4-5 times as much space dependent on the channel.
20 hours is usually the quoted capacity of the box for HD.
The new Virgin Media box, the TiVo, has a much bigger capacity with its 1Tb disk. 500GB TiVo to be available soon.
