if your tv is fairly new it may have a dtt tuner in it,if so an aerial plugged into back and scan on digital tuner and away you go,if it says freeview it may not have a mpeg4 and will not work.

                Ferguson Ariva 120 Combo

Irish DTT and UK Freesat all in one.

Only real flaw is that it dosent hae a full EPG, only now and next but you can get for around ?90 inlcuding delivery from some Polish sites , or for around ?110 Which includes a discount from an Irish site.

                Just PM for the details.

i would say your tv cannot decode mpeg4,it may have to be an external box suitable for mpeg4,we are already getting saorview working,if you cant check tv specs first.

as i said before know where you buy the tv as northern ireland uses freeview mpeg 2 and southern ireland with saorview dtt uses mpeg4 and mheg5,always check the specs if you buy a tv up north to bring south it may not work.

Am very dubious about whole Digital TV switch-over scam. Have
used many varied existing TV aerials & have yet to find one that
won't pick up digital HD signal. Would not be surprised if wire coat-hanger would not be sufficient.
Then we arrive at major scam of TV sets. MPeG 4 is proudly
displayed on front of TV sets on REMOVEABLE STICKER. Once
consumer removes plastic sticker MPeg 4 rating is not mentioned
anywhere else on rating plate or other location on TV set. If TV
set is not new, manual will surely be missing, so manufacturers
web site will have to be checked to verify rating of TV set.
If powers that be did their jobs right all TV sets would have full
technical specification displayed on permanent rating plate.
I have enquired from several experienced retail staff at electrical stores as to MPeG 4 status of TV sets they had sold 12 months
earlier. The reply was DON'T KNOW. If sellers of products don't
know, what chance has poor JOE SOAP of knowing.
Weekly offers at stores as Lidl & Aldi are worth watching out
for as they will regularly feature Saorview boxes at 50 euro. The
quality of these boxes is tops & NO ONE ELSE gives 3 year warranty on electrical items. The Lidl warranty is bona fida. Even
postage is payed by Lidl & tracking no. provided for item.
The ALDI WARRANTY IS BOGUS as punter is made to contact
manufacturer & organise repair or replacement once purchase is
over 30 days old. Am sure this contravenes consumer law but I
did not bother to take matter further when I had an issue 5 years ago. Just refused to buy any item there since, so ALDI
                            were the losers.
Argos & Tesco will have reasonably priced Saorview boxes but
you will have to decide on quality yourself. Many manufacturers
are household names because of big advertising spend. Alas this
leads to cheap components used in appliances, resulting in poor
                            quality.
                            RULE OF THUMB;
If product is widely advertised & yet priced competitively either
spend on components is poor or people are working for dollar a day OR BOTH. I could rant on more but fear Satsmo's wrath for
boring DK members & driving them from site

blimey that speech sounds familiar ,mick says a coat hanger will work, but i would not suggest to use one in case you damage something, surely the object is to get a better picture than the cable.hows tricks eamo. i think in the future britain may be going to upgrade to mpeg 4?
