No, cards are paired to one particular box. Only VM can move a card from one box to another and they only do that when they need to replace a faulty box.

Its unlikely anybody you know could do it - they would require direct access to the systems management database and even if you did then a system audit (they happen regularly) would throw up a discrepency.
VM will NOT pair a card to a box unless they themselves have issued the box to YOU personally. They certainly will not pair to a box you have aquired off ebay etc. The boxes themselves always belong to VM so the person you aquired it off will end up in trouble for disposing of it without permission. In some instances, VM consider boxes aquired outside of their contract to be stolen property !
