new firmware ??? prob not on those little old sagem boxes, how would they install it on them no rs232 or ethernet port, and there is no way they will replace all boxes as they are still installing those sagem itd66, they dont even use talk back like the uk so dont bet on N3 coming to mmds any time soon, N2 is being rolled out on cable rom110 cards are doin the rounds rev a05 & a07 and my guess is there will be more revs to come, sit back enjoy wat u have and had for a while now wen it goes it goes im not bothered cos i pay a subs anywayComment

A friend of mine had a problem with their cable after moving house.
They rang in the problem. IN the mean time I came out and cabled the internet correctly for them so "no more problem"
However Cho*us still came out and changed both there modem and set top box. they now have a large UPc box and new modem. "also a stupid router for a single computer...no idea why they fitted this"
Anyway the new Set top is as slow as the old box, TV guide still sucks taking 5-10 sec to appear. (box has the new card so I assume its N3)
If only I can use a sub card in my dreambox id be happy as the TV guide and user interface is much better. Of course a card share is most desirable but we will have to wait and see what is possible when the masses switch overComment

The word is that n3 has been cracked -- but cos it's not in use that much then it doesn't really matter either way...
If there is an n3 'upgrade', and things do go t*ts up then things will change...
Once an update is sorted out, it is not known whether the 'usual' boxes will be able to upgrade and cope with the new n3 encryption... therefore it could mean getting a completely new box...
Imho, the most 'future-proof' box will be the dreambox...Last edited by john8867; 23 January, 2009, 00:43.Comment
