    vm put a block on

    their was a vm engineer workin on the exchagne at the end of the street when he had gone i couldnt get on the internet so i phones vm they told me that i would have to book an engineer to check my wires in the house. so i put everythin back to normal in came the vm man he said theyd put a blocker on my line as they was gettin to much noise on return path an it was causin allsorts of problems to other clients all he found was 1 small nick in a connnection. could this really ave been the problem can anyone please shed light on this matter cheers

    Yes, that could easily have been the problem. Its amazing how quickly noise can get into cable that isn't adequately shielded.

    However, i'd tend to take vm's story with a pich of salt. Its quite usual for them to use this story when one of their engineers screws the job up and disconnects some customer they shouldn't. Its much more likely the engineer has either audited the cabinet, and got it wrong, or its a botched install for another customer (the new customer possibly needed higher signal so your line has been 'randomly' dropped down the splitter to a lower signal - the new customer thus gets a satisfactory install)

      cheers top coder the vm engineer actually took me to the exchange an showed me the little gadget they put on. i got tv signal and phone but no internet i watched him take the little gadget off went back to the house and hey spresto internet workin is this just a ploy to get in your house to see if theirs any dodgey boxes etc etc

        Nah prob not a ploy, Last VM engineer in my house was moaning that they blocked all the cable box's with Nag3 and complained his bills where bad!
