Why is it a rip off ? If you get 50mb broadband you get the modem. Am i missing the point here ?

    THE TRUTH
    The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Whats the point if your existing modem is doing the job it should.

          new modem from vm

would have been nice if they had offered it to existing customers without upgrading, especially if they have wireless built into it .

Because the new modem uses different technology so that you get 50mg.
It will not work for the lower speeds as the the technology for the 50mg is different to the 20mg, that's why thy are giving you a new modem when you sign up for the 50mg package plus the modem that virgin supply know is the ambit 250 can only deliver speeds of up to 30mg.

              It's docsis 3 but apparently it's compatible with docsis 1.0 1.1 and 2

The reason is probably to stop mac cloning, docsis3 stops that

VM are probably only issuing them to 50meg wanting people so it only comes 50meg from the modem already and youd have no reason to try for a better speed by hacking it

Were as releasing them to lower speed users you have people trying to get 50megs out of it

Why would they want to replace existing equipment that does the job perfectly well?

                    I don't understand why you say it's a rip-off?

You just want it because it's sexy, tell the truth
