    Chorus Aerial Strength

    Hi Guys
I was wondering if anyone knows which of the Chorus aerials is a better receiver.
My mums house is near a wood and there is a row of trees between her house and the transmitter.
I can point the aerial out a gap and get a good signal using a Lance 24db Grid type aerial.

Obviously its Winter so there wont be as much foliage on the trees as in the Summer.
A Chorus installer told me that the 24 db Mesh type aerials are better than the Grids and that the grids are no longer used ,they were primarily used for Analogue reception years ago

Anyone know if this is true ,as I'm sure the Lance Grids are well made .
If anyone has any opinions let me know.
    Cheers

i had a similar prob, the mesh is def better if u have signal issues and the bigger the better as the small ones are sometimes crap maybe ur chor*s friend could get u a 10db line amp that attaches to the downconverter and that will give u a good boost, and u could replace the standard chor*s aerial 18v psu wit a 24v one if ur still havin probs

      Thanks Red Devil.
The Grid aerial is 33in*23in while the Mesh aerial is 30in*30in but only seems to be 21.5db gain.
I got a perfect signal using the Lance last summer through a load of trees which I was very pleased with as there wasnt direct line of sight. It was a very fine day though so poorer weather conditions might affect it.
I used a 37db downconverter as opposed to the standard 30db one so that prob helped too.
Trial and error might be the best option but it isnt the most practical especially on the roof of a 3 storey house.
