Which brand to go for thinking

    Hi all,

I am currently a eurovox max 2006 user.
I have been thinking of upgrading to a newer eurovox, however I have only read bad things about the 7000.
Their are also people of the opinion that if and when nagravision 3 comes into play, only the linux based boxes will work.

In your opinions which boxes are the most future proof?

the thing is eurovox is dead easy to flash and the issue with nag3 which personally i dont think will happen for a long time yet if it does, stick with eurovox you have till we know for sure

There is no guarantees that a box will necessary be futureproof. Unlikely that a box of the plug and play variety is your best bet if thats what you are looking for. You would be better considering a linux box such as the dreambox.

        i have to agree mate,
i sold my sv2 to get an openmedia (linux) box,
because i was thinking of the future (nag 3),
and also thought i should try and get money back for my sv2 before it becomes a worthless doorstop!

p.s im glad i changed over, i really love dk1.1 on me box!
        Dreambox 800hd se/Dreambox 500s, 90cm Solid Dish, Tm2600 Motor, TM-1 Gold LNB!

Mikeyb i dont think you need to be a geek to enjoy the dreambox - although I agree that there is certainly much more on offer with these boxes than watching tv.

Think too many people over complicate flashing these boxes mind. Its actually very simple. It is just as quick as flashing any other box and you have numerous images to choose from if you wish.

The plug and play boxes do what they say on the tin though so they all represent excellent vfm.

a wierd one for me this one too Mates , i've only ever had starviews ( 1, 2 +3 ) and love e'm , but fancy a tinker with something a bit different .
From what i've read so far , a dreambox seems the way to go
, a good box with good support .
Or am i wrong ? , point me people !!

I switched from a eurovox max to a db 500c last Dec for the exact reasons u mention mate.

The ev is so easy to use but when it came down to it the db wasn't that bad to flash really -- the forum has loads of info on it. Best thing for me tho is the picture on the db is much better than the ev -- it's like having HD tv!
