Virgin media free channels...

I really need an idiots guide to this stuff and I was wondering if anyone could help.

A few years ago I bought a starview box when Virgin refused to fix one of my broken boxes... naturally I got a load of freebie channels and I was a happy chicken.

since then I have had sky, but having just moved house I am now back with Virgin...

right - first of all, is there currently a "starview" alternative on the market now? as I know my old starview box wont work (is there a fix??)

If not, I could get sky installed... what box would I need to buy to get lots of sky channels without subscriptions (and by sky I mean "satellite" - excuse the brand name!)

Any help appreciated.

Starview is currently subscription only
Kryptview works in same way as starview, but is free

Any sat box capable of c/s will be better than a cable box, but will involve a subscription to somebody, howver with sat, u have options of upgrading, bigger dish, motor, more channels etc, more choice with sat boxes too, from ?45 up to ?300 odd quid

Blag a dish and lnb off freecycle then google "openbox" for ?70 , or better still "blade media" for ?150..
That's starter prices... you can get more expensive kit !

opnboxes can be had for ?60 and the blade does not have enough going for it to justify more than double the price.. especially when you can get a dm800 that makes blade box its bitch for ?120
