splitting upc broadband connection

hi there, i got upc broadband installed today, they put the moden next to my satellite box under my tv, im just wondering can i splitt this cable and run 1 to the tv, i already have saorview and a dish but if i could do this i would get sky1 and setanta and the other channels that are not on free to air satellite...?

i split it with a regal 110db emi isolation splitter, theres an in and an out and a tap on the splitter, i ran the tap to the wireless modem/router and the out to the tv, when i went to search for channels it said antenna or cable, i selected cable and it picked up upc but asked for a network i.d, also my modem lights started flashing so i guess that wasnt working either.

any help appreciated....OZ
