As VM have already announced a change to IPTV based system starting late this year, I doubt they will switch to N3 due to the costs involved.
I was contracted to a company about three years ago Newport Networks who in partnership with marconie telecommunications developed much of todays IPTV servers and I can tell you It would cost far more that changing over to nagra 3.
If they do spend the money on IPTV then there is very little chance of you ever seeing Virmin without subscription again as the latest development in IPTV issues you an Ip address every time you connect you are unlikely to receive the same ip address twice, so every time you switch on you get a direct connection to the server different to the last.
Virmin are supposed to have signed a contract with Nagravision and like in Ireland at the moment there is little or no notice been given out by providers unlike the satellite world where the information regarding changes are desplayed months in advance.
