1: in uk you have three choices of box/server on cable.. starview (shit) , kv, (shit but free) or a c/s capable box with servers rarer than hens teeth.
whereas with satellite you have a myriad of choice in both boxes and servers. server shit? get a new one, easy.
2: on uk channels alone there are more available channels with satellite
3: there are more satellites than cable broadcasters, with cable you can only watch uk, with sat, and a motorised/multi lnb dish, you can watch hundreds and hundreds of extra european channels, a lot with english audio.
4: how much is a cable box these days? satellite boxes range from around ?40
5: virgin media network problem? no telly for cable users.. unless an asteroid knocks alls the satellites out of the sky, sat users can always watch tv.

sat, why ........... as a ex cable tv installer i see pros and cons

pros of sat:

50 plus HD on uk sky
if on your own motor and use a non sky box , can open up 5000 channels and by other means get working 2000 plus channels

cons, if rains, snows, bad picture

1 wire to box for watch one record 1, no dish, so a little neater then sky
not effected my weather

cons

picture to me looks water down, grey blacks then a sat picture
