Advice on Cable Box

Hey guys,

I totally new to this cable recievers thing . I've been reading a lot on forum for info, hence my first real post.I'm really confused between a lot of things . So I have a few question if anyone doesn't mind?

i saw dreambox,eurovox,starview,dbox2

what is confusing the heck out of me is which one is better i live down south near london and just got Virgin Media and just wondering do i have to buy a new cable reciever like eurovox etc.. or the one i got samsung one can that be hacked?

if it cant be hacked then which one out of them all is better and easier to update and relatively cheap too.

you will get lots of difference of opinion here your samsung box which i assume is a legit vm box is best left alone in my opinion as no discussions allowed on here about hacking them. kryptview, starview and eurovox which are all plug and play boxes and are all similar to a degree to update so as a first timer i would go for one of those the dreambox is a bit more of a challenge but some will swear by them but most have been messing with cabke boxes for many years. I am a kryptview man and find this an excellent box but if you wait for others to reply then you will get more of an idea which to go for.

he is best with a dremabox - as you can get a clone one for 70 quid now where as dbox2 are still around 100 if not more on ebay.

thank you for all your answers i have a friend who got eurovox another one got startview and one other got arnet krypt. i thought i will untangle by asking you guys now im even more lost, im an IT guy but dont like messing about with stuff i like plug and play and easy update..... plus i dont know where i can get them from?

any ideas where i can buy them from people have suggestd car boot sale or ebay? looked for it quite expensive.

is dreambox easy to update i.e no null cable messing about etc...

I am an IT guy and I prefer a the box that you mess about with a bit more mate... You do not need a null modem cable to flash a dm but it is your get of jail free card when it all goes wrong... DMs are for me... and after vm play their tricks its got one of the best chances of not being a doorstop.... But as Donnie says the kryptview is very well supported by the manufacturer etc and is first out with the fixes..

personally prefer my dreambox but always recommend kryptview to mates if for no other reason than the support. you will simply not beat it.
