Unfortunatley for people with hacked cable boxes in these areas thats the end of the road for free cable. The following excert is from 2007 but gives information about the areas affected.

The UK cable operator WightCable North has selected NDS VideoGuard Express to replace its existing conditional access platform. WightCable North has a presence in the West of Scotland (Irvine, Troon and Kilmarnock) and North West of England (Carlisle, Lancaster and Morecambe), in the latter case through networks belonging to the former Omne Communications. Linked to WightCable on the Isle of Wight, it is one of the last cable operators in the UK not owned by V88g8n Media. WightCable North claims to be the UK?s only provider of triple play services on a totally digital network and is to be re-launched on April 23 under the brand name Smallworld. Besides NDS VideoGuard Express, it will employ a new set-top box powered by NDS MediaHighway middleware.
If the changover is now completed does this mean we will keep the rest of the channels currently unlcocked as i have mostly everythinG except sports and movies

What area is Whitecable in the UK?

Ireland is simulcrpyting Nagra 2 & 3 on its premium channels.

The basic ones atm are simulcrpyting N1, 2 & 3.

                  From Wikipedia:

The Isle of Wight Cable and Telephone Company (IOWCTC) was taken over by CLS Holdings at the start of the century.

In May 2002, Omne Communications went into administration. In February 2003, it was announced CLS Holdings had purchased 75% of the company, saving it from closure. CLS Holdings subsequently rebranded the company from Omne to Wightcable North.

It ran two mostly separate operations, WightCable on the Isle of Wight (former IOWCTC), and WightCable (North) in south west Scotland and North West England.

WightCable Ltd was sold in late 2005 to private investors, now going under the name Wight Cable 2005 Ltd.

In January 2006, Wightcable North was sold by its previous owner, CLS Holdings, at a loss of ?2.1 million, to Netfonics.

In March 2007, Smallworld was rebranded from its old name, Wightcable North.
