BT added that it was in talks with ESPN about a deal to show the English Premier League matches that it has bought the rights to for next season, and is telling customers to retain their BT Vision/Setanta viewing card.
Virgin Media has also confirmed it is in discussions with ESPN

Celtic TV, the television channel for Celtic FC operated by Setanta Sports, has ceased broadcasting and will not return until a deal with a new rights holder is struck.
Other channels previously run by Setanta, including Arsenal TV, are still on the air in some capacity but are also scrambling to make new arrangements.
In a statement, Celtic said: "Following the news that Setanta has ceased broadcasting, Celtic TV, which is operated by Setanta, is also in the same position.
"Naturally, this is very disappointing news for the Celtic TV service and its staff. The channel has steadily built up a faithful subscription base and has become more and more popular with supporters.
"The club would like to thank all those involved in production and presentation of the Celtic TV channel. They should be very proud of the channel, which provided an important link between the Club and our fans.
"While clearly, we cannot make any guarantees, we hope that in the future there may be further opportunities to re-instate a club channel under any new rights holder and this is something which we will be investigating.
"Channel 67, Celtic's online audio and video channel, will continue to provide an important and entertaining link between the club and supporters throughout the world."
Arsenal said that its TV channel would continue broadcasting in the short term but the club will evaluate its long term viability.
