Any of the third party HD boxes, a PC with a DVB-C card or a Linux box streaming to a PC

Virgin Media has confirmed that four more high definition channels will join its digital cable TV lineup.

Living HD, FX HD, National Geographic HD and MTVN HD will all become available to XL customers at no additional charge. The first channel will become available at the end of the month, but no precise date was announced and it is not known when the others will launch.

Virgin Media is also "currently in active talks" with UKTV about launching a high definition version of Good Food on the platform.

Virgin Media has confirmed that Living HD will launch at the end of this month.

The channel will show key acquisitions including Criminal Minds, CSI, Ghost Whisperer and Private Practice in high definition, and is billed as "a significant step forward in Virgin Media Television's cross-platform entertainment strategy".

The cable group will carry the service from launch on its digital cable TV platform as part of a package of HD channel launches confirmed today. It is not known whether the channel will be available on digital satellite.

maybe they are broadcast in Dolby Digital only, therefore requiring surround sound via digital optical leads

yeah, nothing like having a moan about the content when you are getting it for free. it costs stacks of money to sign the HD channels and do you really think the s&y are gonna easily handover their top HD channels to a provider with hacked encryption, i don't think so.. As always with this hobby be happy with what you get and have at least a minimum subscription, otherwise oneday there maybe sod all coming down your cable..
