What is a Linux Box

Hello all,

What is a Linux Type box and how does it differ from Starview/Kryptview type boxes, advantages and disadvantagesn etc.

a linux based box ie....dreambox...dbox...eagle box etc are what you call open source....that means the source code for images...gui etc is easily available and anyone with knowlege can make images, plugins etc as you know how they are written....so once a crack becomes available its usually out on linux boxes first as normal hackers can make the hacks...where as on boxes like starview, kryptoview etc they arent open source so no-one knows how they are written and you need to wait for the maufacturer to release fixes etc....if they ever do.

linux boxes are easy to set up once you do it once m8...each time you do it, it gets easier

I plan to replace my sv3, but now not sure what to get, I live in Dublin, should I stick with the sv4 for it's simple method of reflashng or should I go for a linux type box, what would you recommend
