Looking for an HD cable box

Hi. I have a dreambox 500c with dk1.1 and am interested in a PVR, preferably with HD to future proof things.

I looked at the Dreambox 8000 but that is really pricey.

    Then there is:

AZBox HD Premium Linux LAN PVR
    Cube Revo
    ABCOM IP9000 HD.

The AZbox is the cheapest! Anyone know anything about this box and how it compares with others?

    Thanks in advance.

You missed the DM800. Less than half the price of an 8000 but only one tuner.

I have heard a lot about the azbox but never seen one. I'm not sure why its not more popular. Low price and runs pretty much everything. Can anyone tell me what the catch is?

Btw the cuberevo and ipbox 9000 are essentially the same in terms of hardware and functionality afaik.

Thanks, On the Jazz. I really wanted twin tuners as I have satellite and cable as well. Like you I'd love to know what he catch with the AZbox is. I spoke to a dealer yesterday and he did say some boxes (not just AZBOX but I think the AMCOM as well) had returned because only FTA channels could be picked up on cable, or none at all! I thought if you loaded these boxes with the right firmware, you could pick up all the VM scrambled channels.

That's the thing. Dreamboxes have loads of support - dunno about the other boxes, especially the AZbox.

The Cube Revo and ABCOM IP9000 HD are both the same box. They do work with cable and the hd channels, but the software still has a few problems.

                    Eurovox have hd box ?200
Arnet cryptview have a hd box ?200

                    dreambox 800 clone ?225
Dreambox 8000 clone (twin tuner not availble yet)..

                    Dreambox 8000 orignal ?900
                    Dreambox 800 orignal ?445

Abcom / cuberevo twin tuner ?450
Abcom / cuberevo single tuner ?300

This is all from the top of my head so cant be sure of costs. but if you use the search or google your sure can get a long way.

If its purely for cable then go for the DM800c clone. If you are for satellite also then go for the dreambox 8000 if you have the cash..

                    Good Luck.....
