Hi there, new to this forum and have had a good look about and read up on all the options out there. Cracking site! I think im going to go for the DB500c I wouldnt say im an IT legend but know a wee bit and im willing to give it a go. Will this be a mistake and will i wish i went for an easier box when i try it - i.e The Box? Plus out of all the others with N3 coming along the dreambox seems like it may hold more of a chance of surviving it?? Im thinking of going to dvbseller to purchase as its only ?40? Is this place ok? or should i avoid? Its defo the cheapest but in terms of back up etc is it ok? Just some advice before i go ahead and purchase or if you think i should stay away from the DB500c and go for an easier box? Many thanks and keep on rocking!

yeah 500c a very good box well worth the money ,little bit more complicated than most but when your stuck you always have here ,and you ll soon get the hang of it ,best of luck -

I looked at a 500C from dvbseller and the shipping was something like ?35! Add that to the ?40 and it no longer looks as tempting.
I got mine from the infamous dvbmonkey - a disorganised mob but they delivered in under two weeks from China for about ?66.Comment

My 500c was already flashed with DK 1.1 image when I got it from dvbmonkey and I messed around with null modem cables and a null modem to usb converter for a few days before finally loading the same image on! Then all I had to do was ftp some roms and keys using flashfxp and the whole thing was up and running with all the channels on it. The dreambox is not a doddle to set up but for me that was part of the challenge. There a loads of newbies guides out there to help you set it up.Comment

Thanks for all the info guys but ive had a quick change of heart and went for the Starview 4!! Youre right TLL it wasnt as temting looking when the carriage was added plus the timescale and delivery from China, hoping that it gets here in one piece! Managed to get the Starview 4 hopefully delivered tomorrow for ?71 all in!!Comment

Hi saw your message, could you advise me on how to update roms and keys as a newbie im overwhelmed with info.have fta channels but obviously in need of the above to receive others.Any help greatly appreciated.Im in vm north east area i put dk1.1 image on dm500c chinese clone using dream up and used flash fxp to add files as in devilish tutorial.Comment

Download keys and roms from Rapidshare.
FTP all files from the /keys/keys/ folder of the download into the /var/keys/ folder on your Dreambox.
FTP all files from the /keys/scce/ folder of the download into the /var/scce/ folder on your Dreambox.
Re-boot the Dreambox and try again. Leave it on Sly Sports for a minute or two and it should auto update the keys.
