this is only available to members who have subscribed to cable tv
or have there broadband from the uk cable provider, if not you wont
have a active connection in your house, i cancelled my cable tv subscription
a couple of years ago and they disconnected the feed and for me to get the
connection active again i will either have to get a official sub for cable tv or change
my broadband to them, so if you dont have active cable connection, then do as i do
    use a motorised satellite dish.

This isn't always correct as Ive just put a Dreambox 800c in my friends house with 3g Mifi and he hasn't any broadband but has the virgin cable coming into his house and lets just say he has HD!
As a rule if the house has had some kind of service in the past they leave it connected at the green box.

Quick question cunny. Do they only turn it off of no bb or tv is at the house or just no tv.

If you have any service from them the signal has to be active. But as Andy said in an earlier post. .... They don't normally turn them off even when you stop having a service from them. ... of course not always the case

They do sometimes have purges, clearing the non-subscribed connections from the cabs. Also if the cab is full, then they will disconnect feeds.

Of course, you could always put on a Hi-Vis jacket, go to your cab and reconnect yourself

after i cancelled my cable subscription. they said i had to give
30 days notice, and then they would contact me on how to return
there box and remote, after the cancellation time was over, the box
went dead and i got a black plastic bag and address label and a list
of local shops they pick up from. but i cant say for certain they do
this in every area of the uk.

I think as a rule they have 3 pegs per household depending on how many things you use in your house. I know for certain mine was on bottom tap even though Ive their broadband. My mate and Father in Law don't subscribe to any and both feeds are live.

All depends on what box you are using but it isn't that much different to a sat box.
Probably better off making a new thread in the Cable section.
This thread is getting a bit side tracked.

All Hd content the way you get it at the moment will be gone soon unless its fta hd.
If you're happy with sd then you're ok for a while.
Cable is just another option the same way you get your channels now but you need the correct box with a cable tuner and a cable feed. Its also not free

Moved this to the Cable section as the Topic needs to be separate from the HD Going Off thread

Cable with Broadband Let me clarify what has been said

Hi all can someone clarify what is being said as I understand it. I have broadband via cable does this mean my cable TV line is still live and all that would be needed is to connect a cable box with a subscription and they would not have to connect me as I am already connected as I receive their Broadband.
