Help with cable boxes?

Hello, I am hoping the members on here can help a newbie with questions relating to cable boxes. I want to get a cable box as an alternative to sat boxes. I have a few questions:

1) I see you can just get cable boxes but also combo boxes. Which is the best budget boxes and the best high spec boxes?

2) I read you dont need a sub is that true? So you wouldnt need a c or n line like you do on sat boxes?

3) What is the connection that you need for such boxes?

4) Is it possible to get similar channels on the sat boxes on cable boxes such as box office and 3D channel?

5) What are the prices of such boxes?

How could is the Amiko HD box?

What do you mean by live cable feed?

Crap from what i have heard the Tuner is very weak, You need a Live cable feed to get the channels and then we hark back to your question 2 which cannot be answered

Ive heard the Amiko is also crap. A lot of folks using the Q5hd box which is cheap ive cable working on Dreambox 800hd fine.

think its just cable only,local pub across road bought the amiko mini hd combo running on saorview and freesat and has a very nice picture,wonder is it all amiko have bad/weak tuners on cable?
nice to hear feedback on other working models also good or bad.

Q5HD is like a skybox in comparison to build and price so don't expect it to have all the bells and whistles. Google each brand and look at reviews that's the best suggestion I can make to you noobs.
There's a list of cable boxes in the cable section ranging from 60 quid to hundreds. As a rule you get what you pay for.

I want it work smoothly and have great picture?

Do these boxes freeze, glitch etc?

The best box in the world will do all of these due to other factors we cant talk about and internet issues. You said you don't want to spend big so source a Q5HD.
They are 55 quid del from Aliexpress.

Ye I am heavily considering this now, because the dreambox and vu boxes are way out of budget. I know you can do more, has more features etc on those high end boxes.

Only thing I am concerned with is that the Q5HD is just a cable box not a combo one like Amiko. I dont know any good combo boxes in same price bracket as Q5HD.

TBH mate some people arent fortunate to get high end boxes, they have to buy budget boxes like the skybox which I might add people have gotten from the UK which I myself havent had huge problems with.

In terms of cable people will still get budget boxes due to how much they have.

All I am asking is what other good boxes are there apart from Q5HD in the same price range which is a combo box. ?200-?500 for high end boxes is too much as you never know if cable might mess up like sat has with HD channels. I have read good things about Q5HD even if it is a equivalent to skybox.

you maybe were one of the lucky ones if you bought from uk many were not.until more post back feedback on good or bad things on these newer boxes.


@ joe a troll people ask for advice i give my opinion,if you dont want to take i wont hold it against you,how many skybox users have posted problems as they want to watch tv also?
maybe its good more boxes are coming on line now more choice and i wont mind you buying a non vu box.

also had more expensive door stops by not doing proper research.by doing a lot of reading you will see the issues raised and remember starview and their scam,people were warned to stay away and did not listen their choice.
if boxes do what they say and work ok i have no problem ,its when they dont i will post against them anywhere.
