Q5 cable box

Can anyone explain how to alter the signal level as I have been told that my signal level is at the moment 100 db and is is to high
and when you check all different channels they are all 100db any info would be good
as every now and then the picture sticks then couple seconds restarts again.or is this the server I are using. Abit new to cable as always used the s*y side but trying cable due to loss of hd channels

Where do you view signal strength on the q5 box once attenuator is put onto rear of box as I have got one of those variable ones so I can alter cheers
