    can i get chorus?

hi all..i was reading on another forum about a guy who had chorus mmds with a diablo cam on a sony tv not sure what model though. i have a old 40w2000 with a built in dvb-t tuner if i was to get a downconverter with the higher output frequency and a high gain aerial would i be able to use my tv to align the aerial as i cant find any houses to use? im living about 8 miles east of mitchelstown and by my reckoning im about 30ish miles from ballyhoura and can see the the galtees over to the right from my gable end. any help or advice would be great as i want to see if i can even pick up chorus here before i spend the money on the cam n thats another thing i know nothing about apart from i want a wifi one! thanks again to anyone that can help out

Go to nearest Chorus aerial with a compass & line your aerial up in
same direction using compass. Would be easier to use Digivox-t, or
Eurovox-TX, both have signal bars on scanning pages. When chls.
can be viewed using box, disconnect box & try cable direct to TV.
If you can't borrow box locally, come back here & someone will oblige
you. Keep in touch re. your progress. BTW how OLD is old. Could
you furnish more details about tv set. Is it pre AV era. What make is it.
If TV has no AV, run scart from T-box to a VCR , run co-ax cable from VCR (r f-out) to TV. Set VCR window to L1 or Av1 & do an autu-tune scan on TV to view chls. coming thru the T-box

hey thanks yeh i thought about the compass idea but im worried that i might be out of range from the mast..do you think i would be in range? the tv is nearly 4 years old its a sony bravia kdl40w2000 lcd. i dont have any1 local that i could use there box but the dvb tuner that is built in to the tv has a signal meter i was wondering if that would work for mmds as it is a dvb-t tuner? thanks again

When you say there are no aerials nearby, I hope you're not in a CHORUS
blackspot. There are some areas where signal cannot be picked up.
Usually if your mobile phone signal is OK you have good mmds signal.
You could ring CHORUS, tell them you are trying to decide between SKY
& MMDS. .If they give you a quote your signal is fine. If they say no, you
may still be able to pick up signal. I have fitted aerials in places where
UPC said signal was too weak.
The news on your TV is very good, a Sony TV will be OK after 14 years.
Connect Aerial to Power supply (antenna)
Connect TV to Power Supply (tv)
On TV menu go to Auto-Search (or similiar wording) on DTV
Select network, Sym Rate 6875, QAM 64
Freq. range 230,000Mhz -----400,000Mhz Start scan
The beauty of EUROVOX-TX box is Chorus freqs. are pre-set and
make it simpler to locate aerial,
        Keep in touch

cheers lad my mobile signal on gprs is full on but 3g is patchy.all the houses near me are lower in the valley that might be why nobody has it..theres only a handfull of houses anyway.im up high and look over the valley so hopefully im o.k its the distance im worried about more than anything. i cant find anything on the tv to change sym rates or frequency range..although i just did a scan on channel 9 dtt and got all the rte channels and 3 radio stations but there is no picture..its just the normal aerial up at the moment! any ideas what thats about? gonna ring upc n keep me fingers crossed. having trouble finding a 600mhz/800 mhz downconverter though they all seem to be 200/400 apart from the small all in 1 aerials but i dont think 1 of them would cut the mustard so to speak there all low gain that i can find. will keep you updated on my efforts all though its gonna b slow just got a 2k vets bill

Before you go any further you need a digital aeriel & downconverter. I use 214/400 Mhz 30 dB gain. Ordinary ariel is no use.
