Signal quality on a Q5 receiver

I have a Q5 receiver, and in the last two days the picture has been breaking up. I'm not too sure how t find out for definite what the signal strength, and quality, is, but I tried looking at Channel scan, and it seems to say I have a 100% signal strength, but the signal quality is 10db.

I've had the receiver since August, and it's been working fine since then, until two days ago.

Can anyone give me any ideas on how I can find out if it's a VM problem, or a receiver problem, please?

Try the box at another location, friend or relatives house maybe.

Good idea. I don't know too many people who have cable, but I'll ask around.

      Thanks for the reply mate.

The signal strength meter on these boxes is rubbish. It either says 0% or 100%. I have never seen it show anything else.

Do you get break-up on all channels, or only some?

For the first two months I've had the box everything was great. On Saturday all of a sudden all the channels were breaking up. On Tuesday evening, everything was back to normal. On Wednesday night, and Thursday morning it was ****ed again, and yesterday evening, and tonight, it's working fine.

I can't understand why it's gone a bit haywire in the last week. I don't now if it's a fault with the receiver or with VM. I reckon the fault is on VM's side, but that's just a layman's guess, and isn't based on any technical knowledge.

Did you check with VM service status page to see if there were faults in your area. You can type in your post code here:-

Enter your account details to check your broadband, TV or landline service status – and see if there are any issues in your area or faults with your services.

I didn't know about that, thanks.

My picture has been normal since Thursday evening, but it's handy to know about this.
