ESPN HD channel question

now i dont know if its me but i've watched a few programs on their new HD channel on my V+ and it doesnt look very high def to me !.
i compared it with with bbc hd and the bbc wins hands down.
is it just the live games that will be be 1080i ?.

if the program wasnt shot in HD then its just an uprated SD..

i saw a bit of an old prem game and bundesligia game today.. was better quality than the normal espn..

Live games will be in full HD
