    Interference coming in on Virmin Coax ??

    I have been messing about with a couple of cable boxes I have here, and it appears that there is some sort of interference coming in along the coax from the street. I have tried all the obvious things first, like replacing all the cable, checking connections and switching off all the appliances in my house, but its still happening. Is there any sort of filter I can put "in line" to filter it out ? Kindest regards

    you can add Inline Attenuator to boost or reduce signal and interferance mate mate couple of quid on the bay or amazon
    But you would need to know which ones you need
    Try the boxes at another location first to eliminate the boxes
    If they run good there ,just call out V.M and tell them your signal keeps altering ;
    Assuming you have a sub with them ,Hope this helps ............Cheers Paul

      Hi paul ... I have tried a attenuator, and I have tried the boxes at different locations in my house ( although its still the same feed ) I cannot really call out V.M as I only have the BB sub from them.... I have been looking around online and I see these ferrite rings available, wondering if they would work at all.....

              I have earthed the incoming coax to the nearby radiator, and the interference is more or less gone. There could well be damage to their cable in the street, and its picking up static etc from a nearby mains cable...

                An attenuator will only reduce signal not boost it. I suspect you have a mains cable running very close to your cable or leakage in your area or even pylon's over head, if you wind copper wire around your cable as it enters the house or before your box and earth it this may help but wind it around quite a few times it will act similar to a Ferris coil.

                this may help

                  Thanks for the advise ... I have managed to reduce 90% of the interference by using compression F plugs, and also replaced my Splitter for a new one. Also earthing the coax screening has helped a lot.
