Hey all. I read that the Q5 box has known problems connecting over HDMI to major brands of TVs.

Which box would you recommend that has a solid cable tuner, has at least a Dolby Digital AC3 output via S/PDIF, ideally output AC3 audio over HDMI along with the video?
(Note that I don't need a satellite tuner).
I do not want to spend more than about ?120-150 max. Assume that I am relatively tech comfortable but not an expert in such things.
Perhaps a Dreambox DM800 would be ideal? Has anybody tried Opticum? Should I consider Krypview A850?

For your price range you should be looking at the DM800SE version for cable around $152 shipped so around ?97 or there about after exchange rate

Digicon, thank you for the idea! What would be a good place to buy it from in the UK ? Should I try to buy the version 2 (which costs a lot more) ?

BTW I am really confused about this model. Is it correct to say that it only has a satellite tuner by default and would not work with cable?

For the price i quoted you then you would have to purchase it direct from China either from a retailer on Aliexpress or something like Mixeshop.

the V2 800SE has the newer Sim2.2 which uses different images the ?97 one uses the well supported Sim 2.10 literally hundreds of images available.

The Tuner in the DM800 as well as the 800SE are Plug & Play so you can swap between cable and satellite. They even do a Sunray Triple tuner with Sat/Cable/Terrestrial built in for a little more money
