    Alternatives to Virgin Media's TiVO

    Hi guys,

First of all apologies if I've posted in the wrong section.

I wanted to know what the best box for HD channels at the moment is. I will mainly be using the box for sky sports, bt sport, boxing and movies. I currently have Virgin Media broadband at 100 meg and they're tivo service.

The broadband it self is great but the tv service is very expensive. I am out of contract soon and I was definitely going to stop the tv but keep the broadband unless someone can convince me otherwise. (I don't mind another providers fibre service as I have good coverage in my area). I've heard the A850 boxes are pretty good but I can't find them anywhere and also I'm a complete newb when it comes to stuff like this so setting up will probably also be a challenge.

So all in all, the best box for the money (nothing really over ?250 please unless it's definitely worth it).
    Thanks in advance people

Probably the best dual tuner box out there is the gigablue quad can have cable and sat set up same time boots very quick high spec unit for cable and sat is around ?270 but this comes with 2 x satellite tuners and a cable tuner well worth the investment best of both worlds cable and sat

That box will work fine with my VM broadband?
I've heard about VM guys coming round to check on the house when these satellite boxes are used, does that still happen?
Also, if I were to purchase this box firstly where would I buy it from and second, how would I get all the channels?

        Cheers guys

i have the 152 mb broadband bundled with the basic tv and phone, i was going to cancel my tv and phone, i would have saved a ?1 ,you might not save as much as you think by cancelling the tv and phone

Hi be away for a while since VM upgraded there network. I recently got a great deal with VM but interested in an extra box and possibly not paying later on. Can this quad box connect to all channels without satellite receiver?

if the box has only cable tuners you dont need a sat dish.
