I take it you mean an image file and not a binary one thats used as firmware

        OK
So I download from here, goes to 4shared

Load a program so that I can open the file to load onto cable box.

The problem I have is I have a dreaded Starview PVR and it has lost its memory for whatever reason so I need to start again from the beginning.

What would I do in a process suitable for a donut?

        1. Download bin file (put this where)
        2. Load firmware (how do I communicate with box)
        3. Throw it through window at passing tractor!

I have tried downloading files to laptop but foud it difficult.

I have Dell xps m1330 with Vista and no rs232 port only, usb.
Tried usb - rs232 adapters but no drivers, tried drivers on here but couldn't get to work so....keep going round in circles.
Trying to borrow mates machine with serial port for easier connection, BUT I am a novice with all this - even though I seem to havedownloaded 30+ downloads I don't know what most are for???

        please help.

the files your needing/downloading are usually rar which i think you got and when after extracting the bin file from rar your gonna need the app that flashes your box so you can comunicate with it where you will be able to import bin file
