    Which box?

Hey there. I'm in Ireland, Limerick area, i'm with UPC(used to be Chorus). I've no aerial, or satelitte, the cable comes straight in from a box mounted to one of the houses on my row. Apologies, i just don't know the right terminology.

But i was wondering what box(Eurovox, Dreambox?) would i be best advised to get, and will i be able to pick up the Movie and Sports channels without having to pay the extra subscription?

    Thanks!!

The honest answer is none at the moment. If you have friends that live in an ntl area they might give you their old one, as the ntl areas have gone to a new method of encryption that renders them useless at present, and chorus are likely to follow quite soon.

Hehe, yeah, just reading the thread below now. Guess i'll just wait it out and see what happens. Ah well.

I've got an old Sagem box in the house that is still being used in one of the bedrooms. Would i be right in thinking they'll have to replace all those boxes before introducing this new encryption??

Right, well this is a shitty little yolk, so i presume will need replacing.

I wonder what the time scale would be? You know, If they haven't started replacing them yet, and presumably there's a good raft of them out there?

Might still be worthwhile getting a Box??

Or maybe they'll just switch the new encryption on and expect the costumers to make arrangements themselves?? Wouldn't surprise me, UPC being the shower of c*&%ts that they are.

I got new cards a month or two ago alright. But they only sent out two, no new card for the sagem box.

Might try and pick up a cheap one, seeing as they are now useless to many people round the country.
