Not sure what to buy I want a decent tuner I know dreambox are bullet proof as to support and picture quality but the ZGEMMA looks tempting as s2 and cable in one receiver any one have both for comparison thanks all

Ive both and as you say Dreambox are bullet proof but only offers the one tuner and are a bit more money.
All depends if you want two tuners or one. Ive the Z Gemma Star H1 which is the sat/cable combo.
They cheap enough and so far so good but look pig ugly.
Time will tell if these are good boxes but they do offer good value for a twin tuner.

My cable feed is very high signal I've had the amiko combo and the q5 but both had bad break up on hd channels is the ZGEMMA ok in high signal areasComment

Dunno mate but its easier to reduce a signal by adding a attenuator on it or even a splitter.

Why not a gigablue 800 ue ? I have one and its superb. sat motor on one and catv on the other no breakup on any freq.Comment

I bought a couple of these to have a play with the other day (Zgemma) and am pleasantly surprised for the price cheaper than an 800se and certainly slighter faster on normal running tasks which is a good thing, have to agree with andy91 though the aesthetics could have have been thought out better but for the price and its a twin tuner its a real bargain if and thats a big if they last the test similar to how well thought of the 800/800se is today.
So far no complaints, comparing it to my Gigablue quad i did notice the speed difference but then again a 751mhz CPU is no match for a Dual core 1300mhz one, It all boils down to price in the end

I've learnt in the pass you pay for what you get. no good going cheap then things don't work out and you end up paying out again. Got my gigablue for ?150 and I know now that its bullet proof and I wont have to spend anymore money to get what I want.Comment

My friend got one of these, and brought it up to my house to tune it in. I have a high signal level at the moment, and the picture looked excellent, with no break up, though it was only a quick look, and he went home with it. Even the SD picture looked surprisingly good, as I tend only to watch HD channels.
As for the Q5. My experience of it is, it has a weak tuner, and breaks up when the signal isn't great, but since I got a VM guy to do a homer for me, my signal level is 100db, and my signal quality is 100%, and there hasn't been any break up since. When I change to some channels, BT Sports 1 and some Sky Movie channels, it can take a while for the channel to kick in though.Last edited by Cosmic Truth; 7 March, 2015, 11:08.Comment

the zgemma h2 has got a better tuner than the h1 but i have heard that the h1 box does a good job too as for price you can get the h1 for ?65 and h2 for ?73 deliveredComment

I have both gigablue quad and h2 and as digicon has pointed out it would be unfair to compare them. I've also used and set up h1 and 2s. I've found all of the zgemma range I've tried very good bang for buck and blow my vu solo out the water in day to day use. I have even set up permenant time shift to an external hdd and the h2 still performs about the same speed as the solo without timeshift, don't try to timeshift and record another program at the same time though, the poor little thing just can't take it
. As far as astetics go it reminds of an 80/90's digital clock radio, which I don't mind for something that runs my fixed dish multisat and cable for 70 quid, the h2 in black is much better than the white h1 but that's nothing a tin of paint wouldn't sort.
