Why does a V+ box have only one cable input?

The V+ box has three tuners but only one cable input. How is this possible? I want to buy a cable box with twin tuners are don't really want to run another cable into the room. Can I use one and split it? Is that how the V+ box does it internally?

cable is just like a tv tuner so only one cable is required so with the v+ box they have 3 tuners bult in !!! not like sky where they have to have separate cables
