Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is a system through which digital television service is delivered using the architecture and networking methods of the Internet Protocol Suite over a packet-switched network infrastructure, e.g., the Internet and broadband Internet access networks, instead of being delivered through traditional radio frequency broadcast and cable television (CATV) formats.

Google it m8, theres plenty of info on this subject.

This was announced last year, the roll out was scheduled to be complete by 2011 - but then Analogue cable was scheduled to be switched off by 2005 and it's still partially active in most areas

as i have pointed out...iptv has many issues...privacy being one...you will choose a program to view via independent servers, this will enable VM to monitor you viewing behaviour (program on demand)...many feel this might be a step to far in privacy laws...we wil see

if enough people are aware of this invasion then it will take longer to bring this technology into play...but as usual the general popullation will not have a clue!!!...

the privacy is not because of `~~~~` or other iffy channels...but a simple human right!.

the next step will be to monitor what we read!!!!....

i think that this ia a ridiculous move for mr branson. tbh i think this violates human rights and should not go ahead. i mean do sky do this? ive not heard of them doin it so why virign? and some clever clogs will find a way of beating the system soon

I remember watching a programme on tv many years ago when sky+ first came out stating the sky could monitor your viewing habbits and use the info for marketing purposes so it has been going on for ages.
