Do you know which firmware is on the box already? Think its Menu -> System settings -> System information

Coz it might just need scanning.

thats because you have got the wrong comport set on the loader but if you only did factory reset as you said earlier you wont need to reload the firmware it will just need scanning to get the channels back

dont want to sound stupid but whats the difference between scanning and loading firmware. i lost nagravision when i reset but that has come back after going into menu 2580 and setting emu enabled. thanks for your time and advice.

in easy terms the firmware will allow the box to unlock the channels. putting on the firmware is what you are trying to put on the box with the rs232 cable, scanning is what you have to do to get the channels to the box from the cable coming through the wall, a factory reset will not remove the firmware but will delete the scanned proggrammes
