Dead vm cable feed

I've got zgemma h1 but haven't been able to get any channels through the vm cable. It appears there is zero signal coming through as the config shows no signal reported. The last time I had vm tv was about 6 years ago. I've been on sly since then. I'm thinking I may have to get bb from vm to get the cable active and hopefully this will enable me to get all the tv channels. Has anyone had any similar issues with a dead cable line or any thoughts on my plan?

It is common practise to disconnect people that are not customers to prevent piracy.

They tend to do it in batches so you may have an active, non subscribed feed for as long as two or three years but eventually they always get round to disconnecting it if you do not subscribe to something.

on a dead feed, what if i take a new virgin tv sub, then cancel within cooling-off period. They leave it live again for 2-3 years?

I am unsure where this time limit comes from as i have seen feeds still active with no valid live subscription over 10 years old, I would say its luck of the draw if your CAB is full and they get a new subscription then there is a possibility that you may get disconnected but with the amount of 'Install yourself' especially with the Broadband its cheaper to send out the Router and let the customer do a self install and so saves manpower as they know if your line is still active anyway

I have been informed my cable connection is not "QuickStart" which means they would need to send an engineer to setup if I subscribed, which would imply something has been switched off or disconnected at the CAB, we have lived here around 3 years and previous owners had cable at some point, it's an old ntl connection.. My next door neighbour however is "QuickStart" enabled but they just moved in recently.
