Not new to cable or sat scene though
Been reading a lot of posts on here seems to me that to change encryption you at least have to run simullcrpt more than 1 encryption at same time just issueing cards is not enough has there been any N3 codes coming through so N1 and N3 or something else at the same time I have always been in the understanding that there system canot handle multi encyption at the same time unless they are going for a overnite thing i.e switch of N1 at say midnight and swap there system to N3 through the night this could cause major problems.
I will try and look on my linux receiver that now has both runing and see?

Let you guys know or if somone else has the answer??????

As said on the last page yes simulcrypt is used. In this instance a Nagra 3 card will recognise EMMs/ECMs on that particular stream and ignore N1 commands. The same applies to Nagra 1 cards obviously discounting N3 commands.

I thought when upgrading to N1 N2 would have to be purchased before n3 as its an upgrade path jumping a version wasnt allowed.

It depends on the current licence agreement that has been put in place between VM and Kuldelsk*. A migration path does not have to follow similar upgrades, e.g Ireland, Germany.

Currently there are two streams present in the trial area, so the assumption is just that. Given the Atmel core on the new cards as opposed to ST they are certainly covering new ground.

In the letter it says that If I don't use the new card I will start to lose some channels with all channels being lost eventually.
This sounds to me as though they're going to change some channels over first.

Just read all 16 pages and cancelled the preorder on the dw800. I'll stick with the wee digivox for now and see how it pans out. Usually get colleague offers thru for vm and s. Was gonna still get it bcos of the upscaler but what's the point if it won't work at all. Freesat sounds a better option now as personally I can't be bothered changing supplier and I'd imagine there will be plenty others as lazy as me and that's what vm will be hoping for.

Was so looking forward to getting that box, barstewards!

as regards encryption streams. d***-tv have been running n2/n3 for about 12 months and multi-c**** on hispasat switch straight from n1 to n3.

I've been involved in a discussion on another forum about exactly what the new system is. I was initially flamed for saying although it's a modified N1, it might not be N3, eventually, the "experts" seem to agree.

All nagra based encryption is modified from the original and the new stream in Leeds is not N3 as seen in other countries. This would make it even harder to crack and possibly make C/S more difficult.

on my sub box and dream box they keep asking me to phone them to get a knew card so what is that all about because i am only having probs with vm on demand.
