hi follks been an a780 owner for a long time in a similar quandary although I have both a sat feed(which I have never used) and cable feed which I currently pay vm for, my question is the Edision vs the miracle box mini,I understand miraclebox is a cable only tuner which is fine but if the edision is available with both tuners cable and sat should I pay the wee bit extra for it, for example is it future proof and upgradable? if I get the vix image it will update OTA and views on how long it will be supported, sorry for the many many questions, I have been looking on few forums just want to weigh up some different opinions and make sure before I take the plunge and thanks in advance for any information.

usually one can update vix images on original boxes not zgemma by online update,but comes the odd time where one has to completely reflash by usb or image maker,you dont have to update for months if running ok.

trouble is in a few years time if still alive you may want a twin sat and twin cable tuner.

I have ordered the Edision dual tuner so hopefully it will arrive in next couple days, I will post how I get on and how the receiver works, still hopeful my a780 will come back from the dead.

on my boxes i just use vix image and they will flash box for you,i would also get a kingston 8gb usb stick for flashing box or using for epg storage.
the amount of posters saying cant flash boxes due to cheap chinese usb sticks.

Krypt-Poo boxes were proper low spec nasty boxes designed for the numpty market, these were only worth about 30 quid tops considering the spec was so low. The rest of the money you were basically paying for a "gift" subsctiption to KV servers which were very badly oversubscribed anyway....major freeze and glitch completely useless for watching any football.

A bit of reading and learning on how a E2 reciever works will stand you in good stead, a Zgemma star H2S for dual sat, or a Zgemma H2H for combo 1x Sat and 1x cable tuners do the job fine. I wouldnt get caught up with the hype regarding vix images either , theres nothing special or useful in vix images that other images dont have... OpenATV, OpenPLI etc all just as good if not better.

I hear you, but KV was running for years..
Plus it was plug and play.

These new "tings" as things are proper complicated.
