    Old Cable Box - Pace

    Hello All,

A quick question to get the benefits of your total experience. I have an old 'chipped' pace box, which unfortunately has stopped working.... It had 8888 on the front the other week, I turned it off left it off overnight, and it worked okay again the next day. Anyways it done this again a few times but after leaving it off it always came back on and would only happen once a fortnight to a month.

Now it turns itself off and on, but when it turns on I get a picture of sky sports 1 for about 2 seconds then it turns off, and then back on adn then off, and so on.

Is it goosed irrepairable or is their hope for this box???

    Thanks.

    FP.

    reapairable ,
if it were mine i would :-
open it and clean it with a alcohol based cleaner and a soft brush.
remove the sim board and clean the socket and board.
    clean the nvram chip.
clean the atmels nr the front.
i would then use a rework/hot air blower and reflow the atmels.
    if its the same ,

run over the atmels with a fine 15w soldering iron using a magnifying headset with lights to make it easier.
9 times out of ten 88:88 will be cured this way.

if you have no knowledge of soldering do what most others do , ,

fleabay it and say :- "do not have cable so cannot test".
