come up with some amazing on the spot bullshit and hope he does not make a phone call.. if he does then disconnect your box and stash it somewhere safe for a while.. would be interesting to hear some ideas for excuses... and yes the vm connection is normally in a green metal cabinet in the street with a manhole by the side with catv on it.. connnections are made in the cabinet, at least they are in my street..

up my area have of the manholes for cable dont have covers on them anymore and if you do it first thing in the morning you will be safe

Yes you are correct nige, they are green feeder pillars, located mainly at road junctions...i know because i am a sparky, and have looked in dozens of them !! You will need a metal key to open them ( unless the local ASBO kiddies have been there before you ) LOL

I was once told by a VM engineer who came to my house that when a customer stops all services they leave the feed active as they believe sooner or later maybe somewhere down the line the customer will come back to them. He also stated its cost VM money to send people round to disconnect the feed so they don't bother.

9/10 the wont disconnect for the reasons you stated. This is why some people are running without and sub.

Of all the people i know in edinburgh not many of them use sky. As the broadband through cable is the best you will get so it reasons to say that they will get another customer after a person moves etc.

Just get a friend who does not live in the area to do it for you when you are out, as long as your friend parks his car round a couple of corners

Always good to have a Hi-Vis vest when doing this to look the part.

I think that is why we have Freeview being rolled out......Everybody who has neither Vermin or Sly Tv is being bullied into moving to Freeview. I know many elderly people who have to buy a STB or lose the stations they currently get ( BBC1/2 ITV 1 CH4/5 ) I am sure there will be many Freeview STB's being given to Nan & Grandad for Xmas presents....Then by Boxing day they will be watching Top Gear on Dave just like the rest of us !!!

Nobody can answer that question.....If you are concerned about losing Free cable Tv, I suggest that you look into satellite Tv instead. The choice of channels is overwhelming, and you WILL get saturday afternoon football LIVE @ 3pm every week !! There are a lot of Members on here who run both ways of watching TV. I used to have a Eurovox myself...but the future is NOT good for these boxes. I had one for just over a year, and if you get a year out of one you have more than got your money back ! One day there will be Tens of Thousands of expensive doorstops flooding the online auction houses. Personally myself i would move over to satellite and sell the Eurovox for some much needed christamas pennies..
