    Splitter cables, connectors etc

I'm looking at getting a Starview 5 box for the bedroom. I have the Virgin Media TV box in the lounge with 1 cable for broadband and 1 for TV both coming out of the same box. I would need a 10 metre extension cable, splitter etc but I'm not sure what I need exactly so need some help.

Where's the best place to buy all the cables and connectors...any ebay sellers or links to shops?

I think I need a 2 way splitter, 10 metre cable, but not sure on how many connectors I need for the back of the boxes and the cable between these and the splitters. I.e. how many female/male connectors do I need?

Which cable should I split, the TV or broadband? I know they both come from the same feed but would it matter?

I have the XL package from VM, if I run the cable to the above box in the bedroom can I get all the channels I pay for or just the freeview ones?

    TIA

Thanks for the link, I'm abit confused by this line in the ad - This splitter covers the bandwidth required for Satellite signals. However when splitting a Satellite LNB to more than one receiver there are limitations as you will only be able to select one polarity at a time i.e. either vertical or horizontal

Does that mean I could only send the signal to one device at a time, i.e. if I split the cable that goes into the box in the lounge and have the other in the bedroom I will only be able to watch one or the other, not both?

            Thanks for the links guys

If I get a 2 way splitter can I watch 1 channel on 1 box and another on a different one?

I take it all cable equipment (boxes, modems etc) have male connecters and the cables all use female?

This is what I plan on doing...undo the cable from the box I have and screw this into the splitter. Then make or buy a small (1 metre) cable to connect the splitter back to the box. Using additional cable (around 5 metres) and F connectors I can run this to the bedroom...sound right?

Splitter with patch cables - 2 Way Cable TV Splitter Kit Starview Dbox2 NTL Virgin on eBay (end time 14-Nov-09 17:32:12 GMT)

Additional F connectors - 10 x Screw on F Connectors to fit Satellite cable on eBay (end time 28-Nov-09 08:30:03 GMT)

10 metre cable - Satellite Cable TV 10 metres 10m TX100 Coaxial WF100 on eBay (end time 29-Nov-09 00:17:42 GMT)

So everything above should be what I need, although I would only get the splitter or the kit? Cable and sky cable is the same isn't it, coaxial?

Also would this be used to connect the cable directly to my TV as it as a cable tuner?

            Thanks

Thanks Jok I will get those ordered and yeah I agree about getting the splitter kit, I thought it would be easier to use a cable and keep one for a spare

I have seen this kit on ebay and I think it has everything I need but will be around ?5 cheaper than buying all of the other bits above. Postage is cheap considering the weight 10 metres of cable will be.

It doesn't say what type of cable it is though, do you think it will be ok?

Got the bits today after buying Sunday night, it's amazing how small you can roll 10 metres of cable!
