    Cable direct to Sony TV

I have a Sony 26T3000 LCD TV which has a built-in cable tuner. I've not tried it yet as I don't have a cable long enough. But does it actually work with VM and what channels would I get, the same as freeview? Also would it plug into where the standard ariel goes? I thought they used different types of connectors?

I would say your only going to get the FTA (free to air) channels like BBC1 BBC2 ITV1 CH4 etc etc. Its probably worse than having a freeview receiver built in.. I am curious about it though as Sony say (with supported operators) which is as vague as can be... Keep us updated on how you get on..

Dont have a sony but definitely works with the right card. Also works on some Samsung Tvs now which also have the cable tuner.

I currently get all the FTA channels with the normal ariel, was wondering if I could get any extra (legally) but looking at bugaloo41's link it looks like I might not need a separate box now

Pezza no extra box but you wont get the channels legally unless you subscribe. If you have the right card/cam though and purely for experimental purposes plugged it into your card slot the "sky" would be much clearer.

I currently get the XL package so if I got a CAM for this TV and put the VM card in I should get all the channels I'm subscribed to? Without the CAM I would only get FTA?

I'm reading that thread you linked to, halfway through at the moment. I think I need a Diablo CAM and CAS3 reader if I want any extra channels, don't need a card? If I wanted just the channels I'm subscribed to in the bedroom as well as the lounge I would need another card from VM wouldn't I (for a price) or is there a way around that?

With the cam you will get all channels. You could then take your box through to your bedroom using a 2 way splitter one to your tv and the other to your bedroom. If you already have a cable in your bedroom you will be good to go.

Now I have my cables I scanned for channels after entering the area codes and picked up 339. Some of the freeview ones are locked...Fiver, Five USA, Dave, ITV 3 & 4 etc.

So now I need a CAM and card. Reading the thread that was linked above I've been looking on ebay for the ones mentioned. They seem to be ?35 BIN with joker 0.79 loaded. Now is it worth me spending this much with all the talk about the new encryption?

But having said that I would be happy with just the channels I subscribe to, so would any CAM work with my NTL card I still have? Would it just be a case of buying the CAM and slotting the card in?

Would virgin give me an additional card for free or could I make a copy of mine?

I've seen this on ebay that includes a CAS programmer but would this work? They say it's a Diablo 2.2 not the newer 2.3 and I've found a few threads saying the firmware can't be updated?

Duolabs CAS 3 plus programmer and Diablo lite CAM on eBay (end time 22-Nov-09 19:45:02 GMT)

I also saw this CAM but I'm not sure whether it will be any good?

Zeta Blue Cam. Ideal Viaccess & Conax. on eBay (end time 05-Dec-09 22:21:26 GMT)

                  Any advice appreciated

With the zeta cam you will have to open it up and do some quite delicate soldering to be able to program it correctly but it will work.
Not sure about the other one.

Don't think you need to do this. Who has told you this

All of the new zeta blues have the tracks to the internal programer cut.
I even says it in the flebay add that was asked about.
However - These cams are a version 0101 and have tracks cut to prevent them being flashed for naughty things using a cas programmer.

Sorry I bought the CAM & CAS. The CAM after a format flash to latest Stealth crashed the TV, but, following the docs sorted that. For an educational project - can't flaw it.

It went too high for me anyway. What happened when the TV crashed?

So the diablo CAM works with your Sony TV?

I have seen this Zeta one, which as already been opened to fix the tracks and loaded with joker but they said I won't be able to use a genuine card with it. Plus I would still need a card and that has to be programmed as well, is this correct? I thought it was the CAMs that are programmed and the cards aren't.
