    Where to buy a DM800

I am looking to upgrade my cable box from a Eurovox max to a Dreambox HD. I have spent many hours looking through the forums and the DM800 seems to be the most popular choice. However I have noticed that some are called DM800c others DM800s. I am assuming that the "c" stands for cable and the "s" stands for sattelite. If this is not the case can someone please let me know what the letters stand for. I would also be appreciative if you could give me an address of a reputable seller who will ensure I do not end up with a clone box.

Hazy your understanding is correct. Given that you are looking for a cable box you will be after the 800c. The real deal dreams are expensive though mate so be a little careful given that the time your are likely to get from this box is limited with vm changing the encryption.

If you want to spend your dough though you could try one of these

    DreamBox DM8000 DM800 DM600 DM100 Linux Digital Receiver

    SatEuropa.co.uk: HDTV PVR Receivers

Thanks Bugaloo41, I have read all the hype on encryption, and I am hoping that it takes a few years before implementation. However on your advice I will have a look round at the clones to see if they are as good as some reckon they are, before buying.

Take note when buying a clone you are gonna pay at least ?200 inc postage. The failure rates are high and if you have to send back add another ?40 shipping and pray it doesn't get lost and they honour the warranty. I have had a DOA DM800 and sent it back over 2 weeks ago no sign of it turning up as yet! I used DVBseller and it has cost me ?300 so far.!

there is rather a lot of feedback at the moment relating to higher than expected failure rates both here and on other forums on these clone DM800 boxes.

Thanks for the replies. Guess it is best to hang on and see if the predicted changes happen after christmas and then see which is the best way to go.

When did you send it to them? Have they got it yet?

Sent 02/11 just updated tracking to say it was attempted delivery on 10/11 and overseas postal may have left a card and it will be sent back to the UK if not collected. Contacted them and they are looking into but last week said they hadn't had it.
