Cable wire into house?

Hi all,

Please excuse my nubbish question!

I've just moved into my new house (used to be a relatives), and I know they used to have cable tv before moving to sky.

I can find the cable running into the house and under the stairs, but it then just ends. It's not coax but a thinner multi-core type cable. Theres no box on the wall or anything, the must have taken it out.

Is there anything I can do with it (apart from getting vm to do a reinstall), as my dbox is gathering dust and looks lonely sat on the shelf!

U sure it's the providers cable Mate ?, u know what it should look like having had one before .
The place i'm in is over 30yrs old , and has been cabled since the telewest days, but the cables standard , one half carries the phone wires and the other the fibre optic ?
Unless anyone else can shed any light , i can only suggest you trace it back if you can .

I'm used to using the coax, but i'm pretty sure at my old house (terrace) that the cable running into the house from outside was a thinner black one (never saw it inside at it came straight through the wall into some kind of white box on the wall)

Let's know how you go Mate , an interesting one ??
Just go onto Vermins website , put in your postcode and check
for sure wether your cabled or not .
If you are , dig it out and see if it's live Mate , if you can't find it and you should be cabled , you may need to buy a basic phone and viewing package.
But from what i've read on here tonight N3 encryption is rolling out NOW ! in the uk , so you may want to re-think ?
