I know theres many people that say vm will be in trouble cos everyone will go to sky. If they do just for the sake of being upset about vm securing their systems its quite pathetic. I mean what have sky given you?

Trust me sky broadband is rubbish. I have skyhd and V+ and I can tell you theres not a lot of differences, a few more HD channels on sky perhaps but overall they both have their positives and negatives. I dont like the way sky takes over the world. We dont want a monopoly that can charge whatever they want!. If sky ever buy VM we will all be screwed. So I suggest please think before you drop VM.

You on commision from them to keep customers?

I think if you can get anything for free then its a good thing

Cant fault the broadband VM supply either free of charge

Either hes working for them or they giving him commission as you stated.

fact...I have had SKY broadband and never had any problems with them what so ever. Its been working perfectly.

yes VM have a good broadband... And yes Sky is on adsl and obviously it all comes down to how close to the exchange you are.

Im not arguing that getting it free is not a good thing, cos it is. im just saying its their right to secure it. So we shouldnt complain so much.

nah, sorry everyone for sounding like i work for them, i dont but i think adsl is crap because as you said if ur far from the exchange its slow (not only sky). You just cant compare it.

Also If VM go bust what will compete with sky to stop their prices increasing.

I guess im just brand loyal after having cable since c&w

I think in terms of package offers sky is defo the better offer. Full package with 35 HD channs for pretty much the same as 7 HD from virgin. However in saying that for a more cost effective system the sat set ups are relatively cheap over all. An expensive 1 off but it makes sense and a he'll of a lot of extra tv. Personally I can't get my head round it

You have a valid point but as I said its give and take depending on whats more important to individuals, Sky=better HDTV, VM= better BB/on demand content. Vm are slowly (very slowly) getting more hd channels. Basically im just saying people shouldnt be bitter about them securing things, we had a good run after all.

Basically its all down to individual needs at the end of the day

this what I look at it from

Not everyone will have a HD tv and not everyone will be intrested in HD technology / viewing

same with broadband... not everyone knows where to download from and that means they wouldn need certain speeds.. i.e 50mbps

So my point is that certain Inviduals wouldnt mind paying what ever is asked

the other half will try and get bargains and see whats the best possible solution.

Same thing goes with LCD's and Plasma

                        hope this makes sense

Skys monopoly on pay tv is coming to an end soon when ofcom enforces its pay tv ruling to stop sky over charging customers. As a result of the ruling virgin will get all the sky branded hd channels and the red button features on sky sports that sky have kept to themselves for a long time to stop competition.

Virgin have also vowed to lower the price it charges for sports and movies packs so sky will have no option but to lower their prices as well.

well im new to all this as ive been quite happy with freeview , anyhow ive been considering gettin one of these boxes maybe a starview 5 or down the sat line of a dream box

anyhow my question is would it be advisable to put this purchase on hold until theres some light at the end of the tunnel with nag3 or just get a box anyhow until ,

the house im moving into have a old ntl line and sky dish

thanks in advnace for a reply

Dont bother waiting, Nag 3 is supposed to be even more secure than sky (nds) so do not even bother to buy a box. Nag3 hasnt been hacked in other places like spain, germany and poland in 2 years so i doubt it will be hacked any time soon.
