    Virgin Media PC TV Emulator?

Ok I have a dreambox like many others, the operating system it runs is linux. The Virgin cable modem connects to connects to an identical feed wire so why can't we just use a PC windows or linux application on our computers to watch TV?

Surely this cant be difficult!.. ? Any thoughts on this?

can be done but needs alot of work and effort, using a PCI DVB-C card Linux operating system (can use Windows) and say MythTV can be done with the correct plug in for Nagra encryption.

makes an awesome media centre to watch, record and surf tinternet .. I am planning this, one of my new years resolution, to build such a setup in Linux .. got most of the hardware, just need a PCI DVB-C card and away we go.

me thinks some one was reading another post on another forum there is an app for sat that lets you use an old receiver or cam to link to a server works very well but you need a season intervaise and a pc running with the right emu but for that certian one to work it would need cable receivers added to it
