Surely it makes sense for VM to delay issuing cards?

Hi all,

Just a thought. Everyone seems to think new cards will be issued throughout the UK over the next coming months.

Assuming VM have the slightest bit of business savvy, surely they would test the Leeds area for a while and then decide to update security nationwide? VM are certainly aware that people are using boxes illegally but I assume many are still paying the basic fee. Risking losing thousands of basic subsciption viewers to Sky/Freeview may do more financial damage than getting more customers paying for premium channels.

The only way forward for VM is to take out non VM boxes, Sly will not release any HD channels to cable until nationwide secure encryption is in place.

this is what they are doing. they need new cards anyway, regardless of encryption change. the new system needs to be quicker as they are delivering new content via on demand.
