    Getting Cable Installed?

    Right here goes.....

Ive just moved into a new property, well just before chirstmas. I phoned Virgin Media to get their services installed. They tell me that im not in a cable area. I have moved approx 100 yards down the street from my old property that had FULL Virgin Media services.

The green cable cabinet is less that 30 yards from my new property, on my side of the street and there is a track that runs from the cabinet to my front gate. I stand on a Nynex lid/cover thingy when i walk through the gate.

last week a cable engineer/installation guy was working in the green cabinet doing an installation. I got talking to him and asked him why i cant get cable? At that he checked something in the cabinet and followed the track to my front gate and lifted the Nynex grid/lid thingy. His answer was "you can mate! Its a piece of pi$$! Will take me less than an hour! I just need to pull the cable!"

So I again phoned Virgin Media and told them about this conversation with the engineer. Guess what? In not in a cable area!!!

    How can this be??
Is there anyone on here that could possibly check this out and give me some advice??

    Thanks in advance

    'a very frustrared' DiGG

And just to add, I know a man who knows a man that can do it for ?100......

So I can get it illegally but not legally! How mad is that??

Use the postcode checker on Virmin site, if your postcode is good to go, then book installation online....

        thanks for the replies...

I tried the postcode thing.... I can only have Phone and Broadband via a BT line.

The BT line here is crap... just cancelled Sky broadband coz the line kept dropping out...

mickydibble: Not sure what you mean in the last post m8??? Virgin are saying that the only plumbing that I can have is from BT!

I can get someone to plumb me into the green Virgin cable cabinet for ?100 but I dont want to do that! How come Virgin cant do it themselves?

                Really Confused?

They have a cut off devide. BAsically they dont exchange into that postcode. Simple

In my area one area has it. Throw a snowball at the neighbor across the road he doesn't.

Your only option is to get the engineer to plumb you in and happys days. Although if anything goes wrong you need him to sort it for you.

The line wont be visible to the eye when the box is opened so the chances of getting caught are slim and Virgin will only assume that this is someone in the area 100 yards from your house.

I thought that 50mb broadband was on on fibre optic cable. If this guy/virgin plumbed you on it would only be normal cable therefore digital tv, and upto 20 mb bb. I think . But as said vm won't do areas they say they can't Hope this explains what I mean

The 50mb is on the same cable as your TV m8.... just a new modem on the DOCSIS 3.0 platform!
