    virgin media and new software

    hi ime quiet new at this so here goes
    when i was looking for firmware for starview i came across threads which were saying that come march virgin are putting in new software that will stop all boxes from working.
    does anyone know of the scedule for rolling this out

    search for 'n3' or 'nagra 3' threads. there's a lot of discussion about it.

    basically - no-one but virmin know the exact schedule but leeds/york has already gone, it's already under way but main rumours are easter and the channels will be on the new uncrackable encryption.

    there is a THEORY that linux boxes with network cards POSSIBLY could have a glimmer of hope with card sharing but thats a long long way off if even possible

                No, not unless you get it cheap! as it might only last a few months. I just bought some second hand from Ireland as they have gone to Nagra 3

                    Are you happy to accept you may only 2-3 months out of it. then it will be scrap. Only you can decide.
