    The battle has started!!!

The battle between the main players in the digital tv market has officially started, meaning each suppler knows that N3 is due out everywhere very soon.

BT vision are offering free install and box plus discounted broadband and phone calls for 3 months.

Sky are offering free sky+HD box and free installation if you sign up online, meaning zero upfront costs.

Virgin they are now offering free xl pack for 2 months with free install and free V+ box. PLus they are the best ISP around, nobody can touch them on that part.

The interesting thing about this is that BT Vision looks like being a very good bit of kit, especially if, as expected sky lose their case in the court about wholesale prices. BT have already said they will undercut sky on the Sports packages.

I've picked my side, i've jumped for the sky+HD box and sports subscription as it's not worth paying for the sports without the red button.

I don't like the v+ box and only thing that is good about VM is the broadband, service wise they are total Gash!

But keep your eye on the BT vision as i think this is the one that will rival Sky in the future especially when BT get the FO wires down in all areas. One little bit of warning with BT vision, do not get this unless you have faster than 3mb broadband as this can affect the service you get, so rural areas are out.

Hopefully Sky should bring back the half price sub offer they had on at Christmas. That that got them record number of subscribers than they usually would of got.

VM are actually crap on the TV side with restricted choice of channels and no red button for Sky sports don't think they'll ever be able to compete with Sky on the TV front even if the ofcom pay tv ruling is enforced.

I think this is what is was all about in the first place, paying to much for a Tv service that was not value forcing people like us to try and get it for nowt. Now we might see some competion and prices dropping.
        Keep calm carry on.

you need to phone them up, and advise them that your thinking of sky as they have no set up fee. They'll break their backs to give you that deal. My bro got it, wont be long till they advertise it.

I've tried twice since saturday but they won't budge on anything either.

Wanted to upgrade to TV XL+Sports,50mb broadband and Phone L...they said ?86 per month +?55 installation/activation fee as well.

Told them no way and cancelled the lot.

Been with them for over 3yrs now and never had a discount on anything. New customers get it cheaper than that with two months free as well.

i think that nearly 100 pound a month for tv is madness if the firms had decent price structures i reckon there would be alot more subscribers??

The best deal for TV & broadband at the moment is with Sky.

You get free HD box, free setup/installation, all variety packs including sports/movies and 20mb broadband all for ?68.50 per month.

A similar deal with Virgin is ?84 per month including ?75 one-off fee for the HD box. The TV pack also has restricted choice of SD/HD channels compared to Sky and no red button on Sky Sports.

I will be paying over a ?100 as family/friends want the Asian channels on Sky as well though its not so bad for me as we all chipping in with the cost.

Just for info, if you know someone who works for virgin you can with their permission get "mates rates" which is a fantastic deal with all 3 services inc 20 meg bb, I keep seeing these vans and asking if they want to be my mate, they give me some right funny looks!!
